CAMILA CÁCERES

Camila Cáceres was born in 1989 in Lima, Peru. She received a BFA from Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles, CA (2022).

I work with ceramics, video, and installation to explore what official histories leave out. By drawing on material traces and overlooked spaces, I create object-based cartographies that weave archival evidence with speculative fiction. I treat the archive as a procedure of naming, measuring, and classifying that authorizes matter as facts. This approach opens space for alternative histories and new ways of imagining.

These processes organize knowledge and shape experiences of abandonment, displacement, and partial belonging.

My work lives in in-between spaces, where meaning emerges through relation and resists hegemonic narratives. I aim to create a space where protection and disorientation coexist, inviting viewers to inhabit uncertainty rather than resolve it.
